🌼Cosmos are a great choice for any garden and are often found in cottage gardens. These semi-hardy annuals have daisy-like flowers that come in a variety of colors, including pink, orange, red and yellow, white and apricot.

💐Cosmos flower heads can be bowl-shaped or open cup-shaped. These lovely plants can grow up to six feet tall. Cosmos thrive in both flower beds and containers, and they make excellent cut flowers.

Growing cosmos flowers from seed is easy and straightforward. Simply sow cosmos seeds in a well-lit, sunny location between April and May. Seedlings will appear after 1 week. As plants become established, they may benefit from being headless to encourage new growth.

Once seedlings begin to sprout, cosmos require little attention. Only water your cosmos during hot, dry periods. If desired, you can add a general purpose fertilizer once or twice per season to improve blooming, however, these blooms are largely self-sufficient. If you want your cosmos plant to continue blooming throughout the summer, be sure to prune it back when it wilts. In warm climates, cosmos may be cut back to 12 inches after blooming; they will begin blooming again after one to two months. Split the flower bush approximately every three years or so.
